Where did all the trouble fall when I cried at moonrise
A hole in the Earth in which hungry angels breed and sated devils sing?
If only a dance of frozen dog shit on the sidewalk had distracted me
If only I had been born as a moss on a rock, sitting on a tree
They sleep in the other rooms, tears crystallizing, smiles skewing faces
Knowing that the night is a globe upon a globe upon twinkle dust
Moments like this
I wish I could wither with change
I wish that his eyelashes were longer
Dreaded versions of himself
Lighted castes, castes on fire
If drum sounds fake Allah’s laugh
If only earlier this had happened, a zoom of lightning
Through me and my other selves, which awakened them
Now upright, streams gush out of everything but their noses
He was telling me to do it, my teacher
He was telling me to cry life and laugh death
No one heard, because no one was listening
No one except no one, I could not tell you his name
